At Street Youth Ministry (SYMin), we meet every client where they are—no judgment, no fixed agenda. One of the most common questions we ask is:
"What are you working on?"
Their answers shape our support. While we may have ideas about what could help, we always follow their lead. This approach builds trust and keeps young people engaged in their own progress.
What Are Clients Working On?
Looking at the non-duplicated goals from January, we see a clear picture of our clients' priorities:
- Self-care is the top focus. For many, this means finding ways to relax in the harsh reality of street life, centering themselves, and making personal well-being a priority. It’s tough. Many clients get "stuck," not because they don’t care, but due to exhaustion and trauma responses. This isn’t just depression—it’s survival mode.
- Housing and employment come next. This aligns with our mission to guide clients toward self-sufficiency, reducing dependence on short-term safety nets.
- Family remains a major factor. Reconnecting with family can be complex. Some clients struggle with relationships that don’t seem to fit, yet family ties remain a significant influence in their lives.
