January: A Month of Real Change

January was a powerful reminder that change often begins with a simple pause and an honest question. This month, many of our clients took meaningful steps forward—toward housing, employment, and healthier ways of caring for themselves.

"“Change doesn’t happen all at once. It happens when someone has the support, space, and encouragement to imagine a different future—and the help to take the next step toward it.”"

January was a powerful reminder that change often begins with a simple pause and an honest question. This month, many of our clients took meaningful steps forward—toward housing, employment, and healthier ways of caring for themselves.

For the young adults who come through our doors, January became a moment to reflect and look ahead. Many took the time to ask themselves where they want to be in a few years and what it might take to get there. At this stage of life, that kind of self-reflection is incredibly important.

Housing remained one of the most significant milestones this month. Seven clients moved off the streets, while fifteen others successfully maintained their housing. Getting off the street is a critical first step, but it is not the end of the journey. Without continued follow through and support, it can be easy for someone to fall back into homelessness. Our team walks alongside clients during this transition, offering guidance and encouragement to help them protect the progress they have made.

Employment continues to be one of the strongest foundations for long term stability. Five clients started new jobs this month. While the job market is becoming more challenging, these wins remind us that it is still very possible to move forward. Our clients continue to prove that housing is not a requirement to seek employment, though having a safe place to rest, store belongings, and recharge certainly makes the journey easier.

Beyond housing and employment, change took many forms. Some clients focused on building stability, others on sobriety, reconnecting with faith, or finding a faith community that feels like home. Each step forward matters.

As we move into a new month, we continue to ask the same question we ask our clients: What are you working on right now? We would love to hear.
