Why we serve: applications of harm reduction
Why We Serve: The Speakerβs Harm-Reduction Perspective

A ministry reflection discusses personal value, incremental choices and assumptions about behavior.
The speaker explains his view of harm reduction through personal value, information about choices and a continuum of possible steps. He encourages considering what a behavior may be accomplishing for someone rather than assuming it is simply broken.
Examples from prayer participation and client interactions illustrate how he interprets peopleβs capabilities and communicates expectations. These are the speakerβs observations and opinions. They are not evidence of a diagnosis, a clinical outcome, a guaranteed safer choice or the effectiveness of a particular treatment.
